Becky GatdulaBecky Gatdula, Founder/CEO

Case Manager

As a woman with substantial perseverance, Becky Gatdula has become a name synonymous with compassion and integrity. Her commitment to those suffering with substance abuse began with a volunteer position in early 1996. From there she went on to work full time in the substance abuse field beginning in 2003 and then in 2005 graduated with her Chemical Dependency Counselor certification. During the last 20 years Becky has held every position imaginable and has opened, designed, supervised and operated treatment programs. Her passion and loyalty to this population has led to the founding of Rising Roads Recovery Services for Women, LLC. A dream of many years has come to fruition and Becky could not be more pleased. Rising Roads Recovery is now a benchmark in the gender specific treatment world; a place where women can address what ails them and move forward in spite of previous missteps. With her feet firmly planted in a 12-step foundation and the development of what she considers a dream team, who are all well trained in many different interventions, Becky is excited to be leading Rising Roads Recovery.

 

Christina HuxfordChristina Huxford, CTP, STR

Group Facilitator and Somatic Body Work

Christina is a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP), is certified in Somatic Trauma Resolution, is a Reiki Master and has completed certification with Spirit2Spirit Healing. Christina uses Somatic modalities with Psychodrama, and Psychodramatic Bodywork to help her clients heal from the suffering that can result from abuse of any kind, traumatic injury, abandonment, grief, loss or any event that results in the traumatic “overwhelming” of the nervous system. Her work with trauma survivors has led her into working with individuals that have addiction and abuse issues, eating disorders, depression, anxiety and low self-esteem. Christina’s holistic approach to helping individuals recover is augmented by her passionate energy, creativity, intuition and natural healing talents. Her work in individual sessions and as a group facilitator brings dramatic healthy changes and hope into the lives of those she works with. Rising Roads Recovery is lucky to add Christina to the team.

 

Sara SanchezSara Sanchez, Psy.D., LMFT

Primary Therapist

Sara Badrtalei Sanchez is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in addiction, trauma, women’s issues, cultural issues, and dual-diagnoses. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at the University of California, Riverside, Master’s Degree in Psychology at Chapman University emphasizing in Marriage and Family Therapy and received her Doctoral Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. While completing her internship, Dr. Sara had extensive experience working in community-based mental health clinics, counseling a diverse group of individuals, couples, families, and children. Since the beginning her MFT Internship practice she also had the unique opportunity to work in Residential and Outpatient Programs with both adolescents and adults. She holds a special place in her heart for working with women as they make lasting life changes and move into life as a more fully integrated, whole person. Dr. Sara honors each and every client and is deeply committed to providing a safe space for women to heal from their experiences and underlying issues. Being involved in music throughout her life, she has found that integrating creativity and exploring one’s talents/strengths can be extremely beneficial for ongoing growth. She maintains a successful private practice in Newport Beach, treating individuals of all ages and their families to restore a healthy and balanced life. She also offers continuity of care for those who transition from Inpatient to Outpatient settings to maintain the therapeutic relationship and continue to work on each client’s growth. Dr. Sara is honored and thrilled to be a part of such a strong and collaborative team at Rising Roads Recovery.

 

Kathryn (Katy) FoleyKathryn (Katy) Foley, MA, RADT-I

Group Facilitator

Katys passion for art and her desire to have a fulfilling career where she was able to help others led her to Undergraduate and Graduate school at Notre Dame De Namur University. There she earned a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and in Art Therapy. Years of working with autistic non-verbal children in Northern California prepared her to enter any situation with grace and compassion. Having close family members fall victim to alcoholism and drug addiction she has seen first hand the success and peace recovery brings. She is now a registered Alcohol and Drug Trainee and is thrilled to bring her unique set of skills to our community and support the women at Rising Roads Recovery in their journey.

 

Sue Gauthier-PinSue Gauthier-Pin, MA, AMFT

Therapist / Group Facilitator

Sue Gauthier-Pin is a Creative Empowerment Coach who specializes in working with women to nurture their Recovering Inner Artist. Sue utilizes in provided an arts-based integrative coaching approach that blends traditional goal-oriented coaching with the healing power of creativity. Sue helps the women at Rising Roads Recovery by guiding them through their emotional and spiritual healing process with explorative techniques, such as, intermodal expressive arts, dreamwork, sandtray, and psychodrama. By engaging in intentional creative acts the women at Rising Roads Recovery are given an outlet to express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences for which they “have no words.” Sue achieved her Master’s of Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA and is drawn to Rising Roads Recovery because of her interest in the intersection of spirituality, creativity, emotional wellness and addiction.

 

DeAnna TavakolyDeAnna Tavakoly, MA, AMFT

Therapist / Group Facilitator

DeAnna is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a demonstrated history of working with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. DeAnna has a Master’s Degree in Couples and Family Therapy from Alliant International University. Her experience includes facilitating psycho-educational group therapy with subjects ranging from the neurobiology of addiction, emotional cartography, trauma and loss. DeAnna believes in promoting self-awareness and education to empower women to develop new skills in order to have corrective life experiences and end the painful cycles perpetuating their addiction. DeAnna subscribes to an intergenerational family systems approach when working with individuals and their families. She is honored to have witnessed the strength and resiliency found in the individuals and family members who strive every day for a healthier life and relationship with themselves. DeAnna’s passion for the many facets of recovery has led her to Rising Roads Recovery, where she is thrilled to be a part of their dynamic, committed and highly skilled team.

 

Michael GrossMichael Gross, Ph.D., C.P., CET-III, RADT-II

Group Facilitator

Michael is a board-certified psychodrama practitioner and Certified Experiential Therapist as well as a drug and alcohol counselor. He has worked in various addiction treatment settings for more than five years and has been facilitating residential and outpatient psychodrama groups for more than three years. Much of his experience has been in treatment programs for women with a history of trauma as well as addictions, including eating disorders and codependency. During his training as an addictions counselor he was profoundly affected by his first exposure to psychodrama, an action method based on the principle “don't tell me, show me.” He recognized its power to create a sense of safety in groups, build deep connections among group members, unblock frozen feelings, foster creativity and spontaneity, help people embody new roles, and accelerate personal growth and transformation. Michael is especially interested in the use of experiential and somatic approaches to healing shock and relational trauma. In addition to its therapeutic benefits, Michael appreciates how the spiritual foundations and fundamental principles of psychodrama align with his engagement in 12-step recovery. We are thrilled he has agreed to join the RRR team.

 

Susannah JohnsonSusannah Johnson

Holistic Nutritionist

Susannah Johnson is an experienced health educator and Board Certified Holistic Nutritionist. With a demonstrated history of working in the health, wellness, recovery, and fitness industries, Susannah specializes in health coaching, weight loss, strength training, digestive health issues, and drug and alcohol addiction recovery. Her authentic and educational approach to nutrition brings a sustainable healthy lifestyle within everyone's reach.

Hisham KorraaHisham Korraa, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Hisham Korraa, M.D. is a UCLA trained psychiatrist specializing in psychotherapy and medication management for adults and adolescents. With a heavy emphasis on addressing the individual, Dr. Korraa’s treatment focuses on variables that would impact the individual’s development and coping patterns over the course of the years.

Dr. Korraa developed a special interest in helping individuals overcoming their chemical dependency issues and addressing underlying core struggles to focus on growth and health. Dr. Korraa works well with several different chemical dependency programs in Orange County including PACE Recovery Center and he maintains a strong relationship with his patients well after their acute recovery period.

Dr. Korraa did his undergraduate training at University of Houston. He later graduated from Texas Tech School of Medicine. He then specialized in Psychiatry at the reputable UCLA/Sepulveda Training Psychiatry Program. Being exposed to several different facilities in the Los Angeles area (with much exposure to veterans in the greater LA VA and Sepulveda VA program), Dr. Korraa became well versed in PTSD and chemical dependency. In addition to psychopharmacology and individual therapy, Dr. Korraa is one of the very few physicians who also specializes in both the transcranial magnetic treatment of depression and deep brain nerve stimulation of obsessive compulsive disorder.

Dr. Korraa has been awarded multiple awards over the course of the years. He has been recognized by his patients with several “Patient’s Choice Award” and “Compassionate Doctor Recognition”. He has also been recognized as among the best rated doctors in the area.

 

Nicole CavanaghNicole Cavanagh, RADT-I

Program Administrator and Compliance Officer

With Nicoles more than five years of experience working in treatment compliance and insurance coordination, she is a true asset to both RRR staff and family members of clients. She has a tremendous amount of knowledge and compassion, which supports her ability to fight for our clients and their families with the insurance companies. Nicoles goal is to help families feel comfortable and secure in their decision to go to treatment, and strives to make the insurance and financial process as stress-free as possible. Nicole also plays a huge role with the licensure and compliance and keeps Rising Road Recovery up to date with the city and the state regulations.

 

Kristen SmithKristen Smith

Communications Director

Kristen has always been passionate and enthusiastic about helping people. Kristen earned a degree in Business Marketing in 2000 from Texas Christian University to create a platform for blending her business and people skills. After working for an advertising agency in Houston for two years her family and friends recognized her disease of alcoholism and she checked herself into treatment. As she created a new life rooted in recovery, Kristen realized she could bring both her marketing background and personal experience to a position with a treatment center. This began a career in an industry that helps not only the individuals they treat but everyone around them. Kristen has brought her expertise in marketing and outreach to the recovery industry since 2003. She has also spoken at national conferences on best marketing practices and the importance of company culture in addiction treatment centers. Originally from Texas, Kristen moved to Southern California in March of 2014. When she is not creating, planning and building relationships for the treatment centers she works for – you can find her at the beach, on her road bike or on a yoga mat.


Jordan SpektorJordan Spektor

National Business Development

Jordan is a native of Seattle, Washington. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Marshall School of Business. After getting his degree, Jordan worked in business development and sales in industries such as software and international product sourcing. While in college, Jordan began an 8-year battle with alcoholism and addiction that affected every aspect of his life. After getting sober in 2011, Jordan discovered a passion for helping people struggling with addiction find recovery. He began as an intern and rose to Chief Development Officer at a well known mens extended aftercare program. Jordan is thrilled to enter into the realm of womens extended care and expand his repertoire. After experiencing the benefits of long term recovery first hand, he believes that if an addict learns to love her life in recovery, anything is possible.

 

Mike RobertsonMike Robertson

National Outreach Representative

As the National Outreach Representative, Mike will be responsible for marketing and public relations initiatives and will serve as the primary liaison for Rising Roads Recovery at conferences and networking events nationwide.

Driven by a passion to help others, Mike began working in the chemical dependency and mental health field and has dedicated his career to helping those on a journey to lasting sobriety. By partnering with other industry-leading substance abuse recovery advocates, Mike has cultivated an extensive knowledge base regarding local and national treatment centers, eating disorder programs, wilderness and therapeutic schools.

As a trusted authority and highly regarded by his peers in the treatment field, Mike brings with him a wealth of experience and a dedication to ethical treatment marketing.

On a personal note, Mike is a native to Southern California and enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and children. In his spare time, he is also an avid fisherman and photographer.

I am blessed and honored to have Mike join our team and we look forward to working together to help even more women and their families travel a healing path to long-term recovery.
